María Teresa Bourlon de los Ríos, MD, MSc
Dr. Bourlon is a medical oncologist, Associate Professor, founder and head of the Urologic Oncology Clinic at Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán, Mexico. She is also the director of the Genitourinary Cancers Program for Medical Oncologists at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. After graduating from Universidad Panamericana, she completed her internal medicine residency and medical oncology fellowship at INCMNSZ, Mexico. She further pursued a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the University of Colorado and earned a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences from UNAM. Throughout her career, she received many distinction awards, including the International Development and Education Award (IDEA) from ASCO, the Editorial Fellowship Award from the Journal of Clinical Oncology Global Oncology, the International Women Who Conquer Cancer ASCO, and the 40 under 40 in cancer Award in 2023. She is particularly interested in Global Oncology and Oncofertility, reflected in her role as the Oncofertility Consortium ambassador in Mexico and co-founder of GLOW.
Dr. Bourlon envisions GLOW as a diverse group fostering collaboration and enriching the global oncology perspective for adapting practices in various resource settings.
