Berna Özdemir, MD-PhD
Dr. Özdemir is currently a Senior Lecturer and Senior Physician at the University Hospital Bern in Switzerland, originally from Turkey and residing in Bern. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Bern in 2007 and received a scholarship from the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences for her MD PhD training. Her postdoc training at Harvard University, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center took place between 2011-2013. Since 2013, Berna has been actively engaged as a clinician-scientist, primarily focusing on translational and clinical research. Her current interests revolve around uncovering sex and gender-related disparities in cancer risk and mortality, particularly concerning drug toxicity.
Dr. Özdemir joined GLOW with the aim of raising awareness about gender differences in treatment outcomes among oncologists worldwide and envisions GLOW as a platform for diverse collaboration and the exchange of ideas to broaden horizons in this field.
